ABA is auctioning again some special objects and items from private collections.

Bullet Books – Bibliography, Books on Books
Some literary works.

Bullet Books - Science and Technology.
In particular, the subjects Biology, Photography, Maritime and some magnificent ornithological works.

Bullet Books – Art, Architecture and Culture.
A comprehensive collection including many museum and gallery catalogs, some of them singed. Works on sub-areas such as Art History, Topography, Maritime, Magazines, Middle Ages, Fashion, Ceramics, Silver, Glass, Asian art and Sculpture. Also many reference works. Well-known names include: Gerrit Achterberg, Pieter Scheen, Jan Wolkers, Hollstein, Copier, Cobra, Klaas Gubbels, Dali, Escher, Van Gogh, Doré, Beuys, Mondriaan and Peter Shelton. The collection also includes many works of other contemporary artists. In addition, an unusual lot of genuine letters from M.C. Escher.

Bullet Books - Topography and History.
A well-kept collection Dutch East Indies predominates this category.

Bullet Books - Children’s Books, Comics.
Some special children’s books and comics. Extraordinary is the very rare ’Het alternatieve einde van Sneeuwwitje en Roodkapje’ (The alternative end of Snowwhite and Little Red Riding Hood).

Bullet Books – Miscellaneous.
One lot only, but remarkable because of the recent death of Hugh Hefner: a lot of 68 Playboy issues.

Bullet Prints and other Graphics.
An outstanding collection of copper engravings, lithographs and other graphic work.
Cartography, topography and biography. And a.o. some very rare plotter art from the beginning of the computer age.

Bullet Curio, Antiques en Ephemera.
The category Curios is rich and very varied again. Items include: Archaeological finds, Silver, Carpets, Cloths, Makkum Pottery, Toys, Hats, Furniture, Sledges, Hoops, Photo Camera’s, Postcards, an Ambassadors Uniform, Picture Slides, Playing Cards, a Thangka, Ceramics, Numismatics, Glass, Tiles, Castles, Clocks, Icons, Asia and other vintage or antique items.

A sublime collection of original pictures of Old Amsterdam by Albert Greiner and Jan Springer.

Bullet Asian Art and Utensils
Given the extent of it a separate category. From a.o. the Song, Qing en Ming Dynastie and the Kangxi period. Various special bowls, teapots, religious items, many utensils and a beautifully barnacle stained bottle from an 18th century shipwreck.

Bullet De collection Old and Antique books, Manuscripts and otherwise Rare Books this auction is also diverse. What is a Book Auction without an excellent selection of antique and rare books? Highlights are a.o. the ‘Byzondere Aenmerkingen over het aenleggen van Pragtige en Gemeene Landhuizen, Lusthoven, Plantagien en Aenklevende Cieraeden’ by Pieter de la Court van der Voort, ‘De Beschryving van Japan, behelsende een verhaal van den ouden en tegenwoordigen staat en regeering van dat Ryk’, by Engelbert Kaempfer and Johann Caspar Scheuchzer, ‘Gedenkwaerdig bedryf der Nederlandsche Oost-Indische Maetschappye’ by Olfert Dapper and ‘Toonneel van China’ by Athanasius Kircher (1602-1680) / J.H. Glazemaker. In addition, many other antique books of good quality including a lot of beautifully illustrated Alba Amicorum. By far the vast majority within this category has been consigned by Tresoar - Frysk Histoarysk and Letterkundich Sintrum (Friesian Historical and Literature Center) in Leeuwarden. Tresoar originated after a merger of the Provincial Library of Friesland, the Friesian Literary Museum and Documentation Center and the National Archives in Friesland. The lots introduced by this museum are marked with a small stamp.

Bullet Art and Graphics.
A beautiful extensive collection of etchings, drawings, watercolors and paintings. Including romantic cityscapes, landscapes, still lifes and seascapes of the 19th and 20th century. Furthermore modern graphical art of among others Peter Struycken, Cesar Domela, Bram Bogart, Lucio Fontana, Robert Filliou and Jean-Pierre Vasarely. As well as a very rare signed linoleum cut of Henri Matisse.

Bullet Posters.
The auction concludes with a large collection of special and rare gallery, museum and advertising posters including those of Karel Appel, Lucebert, Malevich, David Hockney, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Bram van Velde, Ans Wortel, Vasarely, Dali, Jan Wolkers, Marina Abramovic, Ulay Laysiepen and Anthon Beeke. In addition, many others with topics like The Olympic Games, Holland Festival, Sonsbeek, The Aids Fund (Robert Mapplethorp), Dutch Swing College Band, Gaudamus, The UN, De Stijl, De Appel, the NDT and some political Soviet posters.

In short: Another auction to be proud of!
